The Utah Highway Patrol has identified Michael Allen Park as the 74-year-old Sandy man who died Friday when a FedEx truck traveling down Parleys Canyon crossed the median into eastbound traffic and hit the man's car head-on.

Park died at the scene. Nobody else was in his car, the UHP reported. The driver of the FedEx truck and a passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The crash involving the truck and the car occurred about 6:20 p.m. near 8630 East on Interstate 80 just east of Lambs Canyon, UHP reported. Eastbound traffic was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
