Eleven members of the LDS Church's First Presidency and the Twelve Apostles were born outside the United States. They are:

John Taylor: Milnthorpe, Westmoreland Co., England. Born Nov. 1, 1808. Ordained an apostle Dec. 19, 1838.

George Q. Cannon: Liverpool, Lancashire Co., England. Born Jan. 11, 1827. Ordained an apostle Aug. 26, 1860.

George Teasdale: London, England. Born Dec. 8, 1831. Ordained an apostle Oct. 16, 1882.

Anthon Henrik Lund: Aalborg, Jutland, Denmark. Born May 15, 1844. Ordained an apostle Oct. 7, 1889.

Marriner Wood Merrill: Sackville, Westmoreland Co., New Brunswick, Canada. Born Sept. 25, 1835. Ordained an apostle Oct. 7, 1889.

Charles William Penrose: London, England. Born Feb. 4, 1832. Ordained an apostle July 7, 1904.

James Edward Talmage: Hungerford, Berkshire Co., England. Born Sept. 21, 1862. Ordained an apostle Dec. 8, 1911.

John Andreas Widtsoe: Daloe, Island of Froyen, Trondhjem, Norway. Born Jan. 31, 1872, came to the U.S. at 12. Ordained an apostle March 17, 1921.

Charles Albert Callis: Dublin, Ireland. Born May 4, 1865. Ordained an apostle Oct. 12, 1933.

Marion G. Romney: Colonia Juarez, Mexico. Born Sept. 19, 1897 to American parents. Ordained an apostle Oct. 11, 1951.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf: Mhrisch-Ostrau, Czechoslovakia, a native German. Born Nov. 6, 1940. Sustained as an apostle Oct. 2, 2004.
