Utah's 198.025-197.6 win over Georgia on Saturday was one for the record books as the announced attendance of 15,224 for the season finale helped the Utes set several records.

The crowd, which was the sixth largest in school history, gave the Utes a school record of 14,376 for season attendance average

The average is the highest in the country for any women's collegiate sport, the fourth time the Utes have led the nation in the category.

The Utes also led the nation in attendance in 2010 (14,213), 2011 (13,503) and 2013 (14,349).

Alabama's gymnastics team was second this year, averaging 12,826 fans, followed by Tennessee's basketball team, which averaged 11,600.

"The support we get in this community is unbelievable," Utah coach Greg Marsden said. "It's not just on campus but throughout the whole community and it means a lot."

Breaking the tie

Utah's Georgia Dabritz and Georgia's Chelsea Davis are tied for No. 1 in the uneven bars rankings with a 9.94 average, but it was Dabritz who had the edge on Saturday.

The junior scored a 9.925 to win the event while Davis had a 9.85.

Dabritz finishes the regular season winning 9 of 10 titles on the event.

Lineup change

Marsden said he went with Breanna Hughes in the balance beam lineup because she had a better week of practice than the other candidates, Becky Tutka and Dabritz. Hughes scored a 9.875 in her first routine since falling against Washington Feb. 28.

"There was no question she deserved that opportunity and she took advantage of it," Marsden said.

Up next

The Utes start their postseason run when Cal hosts the Pac-12 Championships on March 22. While the official announcement has yet to be made, the Utes are expected to compete in the afternoon session, along with No. 7 UCLA, No. 10 Stanford and No. 12 Oregon State.

As the host school, Cal was allowed to select which session in which it wanted to compete. Not surprisingly the 19th-ranked Bears picked the evening session, which starts at 7:30 p.m. As one of the lower seeds, it will be joined by No. 20 Arizona, No. 22 Arizona State and Washington.
