Firefighters quickly extinguished a garage fire in South Jordan Thursday morning, and a family of three escaped the attached home unharmed.

Public safety dispatchers said a 911 call sent crews rushing to the scene of the blaze, 3326 W. Lady Dove Lane (9435 South), at 3:09 a.m. They found two SUVs inside the garage aflame, but were able to snuff the fire before it could do any extensive damage to the home itself.

However, smoke and water damage still rendered the residence temporarily uninhabitable. The residents took shelter with neighbors pending repairs.

South Jordan Fire Battalion Chief Clayton Miller said the cause of the fire was under investigation, but it did not appear to be suspicious. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
