Logan • Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton has been named a candidate for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award, an honor that recognizes student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.

To be eligible for the award, a player must be classified as an NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Keeton is one of 30 candidates for the award. Of the candidates, 14 have grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher, including five who maintain above a 3.5. Three are returning All-Americans and 18 were all-conference selections in 2014.

An acronym for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School," the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the individual and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Keeton is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Houston. He was one of 22 football players to be honored at halftime of the 2015 Sugar Bowl as a member of the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Keeton currently ranks first in Utah State history in career completion percentage (.647), passing efficiency (142.4) and interception percentage (0.020). He has thrown just 18 interceptions in 902 pass attempts. He is also second in career touchdown passes (58) and career completions (584).

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the football bowl season in early January.
