Like a grumpy, old lion retreating before an autumnal herd of wildebeests, summer was slowly making its overdue exit as Utah entered its first full week of official Fall.

The National Weather Service predicted highs in the low- to mid-80s on Tuesday, about the same as Monday's forecast, which also included some isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Southern Utahns finally seemed to have bid farewell for the remainder of the year to triple-digit heat, with Tuesday highs to range in the low- to mid-90s — the same as forecast for Monday in Utah's Dixie.

The Utah Division of Air Quality rated air quality as "green," or healthy, into the midweek.

The Intermountain Allergy and Asthma website listed sagebrush as "very high," mold as "high," and ragweed as "moderate" on its pollen index as of Monday.
