I have a simple question for the "esteemed" county commissioners who decided to reward one of their own's lawbreaking ("Convict named Utah's county commissioner of the year," Tribune, Oct. 10): How do you expect to maintain the rule of law when you celebrate breaking the law?

You have just told the entire population that it's OK to break the law, as long as you feel it's a "principled" ignorance of the law.

I, for one, am outraged at anyone's support for a lawmaker/public servant making a mockery of our judicial system and our sense of civility.

And by the way, his true "peers" are in jail.
