A girl fatally injured when she was hit by a pickup truck in a Utah County preschool parking lot has been identified.

In Facebook postings Friday, the family of 5-year-old Stella Ferrazzano, of American Fork, confirmed she had died in the incident about noon on Thursday.

"No parent should ever have to bury their child, let alone right before Christmas," wrote Sara Beth Wright, the girl's stepmother. "Please keep all of her family in your prayers. And keep your babies close and love them ... you really do never know."

Contacted Friday, Lehi Fire Chief Jeremy Craft declined to confirm the identity, but did say he was aware the girl's family had released it through social media. "We're leaving that [identifying] to the family," he said.

The girl and a 3-year-old sibling were being picked up by their mother from Mountainland Head Start preschool, located near 500 West and 200 South. Somehow, the 5-year-old got away from her mother and was hit by a pickup in the parking lot, Craft said.

She was taken to Lehi's Mountain Point Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
