Lexington, Ky. • The Nebraska Cornhuskers got the revenge they were looking for Friday at Memorial Coliseum, sweeping the BYU Cougars 3-0 in an NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament regional semifinal.

BYU swept Nebraska 3-0 in the regional finals last year in Seattle on its way to the tournament's championship match, a loss to two-time champion Penn State.

At the home of the University of Kentucky on Friday, the Cornhuskers won by scores of 26-24, 25-27 and 25-23 to advance to the Elite Eight. The Cornhuskers (29-4) have now won 13 straight, while West Coast Conference champ BYU (28-4) had its 10-match winning streak snapped.

BYU was making its fourth straight Sweet 16 appearance, but rarely led on Friday.

"Nebraska is just a great, well-coached team," said BYU coach Heather Olmstead. "They're fundamentally sound, they have a great setter, they have great pins, great middles, great libbers and so they're a great team. They run their system well."

Senior Alexa Gray had 18 kills and 15 digs in her final match as a Cougar, while junior Amy Boswell added eight kills and eight block-assists. Cosy Burnett (seven kills) and Ciara Parker (18 digs) also played well for the Cougars, who struggled against Nebraska's powerful block.

Amber Rolfzen, Kadie Rolfzen and Kelsey Fien had 12 kills each for Nebraska.

Despite hitting .336 in the first set, BYU never could quite take the lead from the experienced Huskers. Trailing 12-8, BYU rallied to tie the match at 13-13 and then five more times after that, including 24-24, but could never win the break-through points.

Nebraska dominated the second set as the Cougars hit a miserable .067 in that frame and committed 10 errors.

BYU jumped to a quick 6-2 lead in the third set, but the Huskers eventually caught up at 13-13 and then surged ahead, despite a spark off the bench from BYU's Veronica Jones. The Cougars scored five straight points to close within 23-22, but Nebraska regained control at the net to advance.

Nebraska will meet the winner of the late match between No. 5 seed Washington and No. 12 seed Ohio State in Saturday's regional final in Lexington.
