One person is in critical condition after a crash Friday afternoon in Kearns.

At about 4:30 p.m., a westbound truck collided with a northbound sedan at the intersection of 5400 South and Northwest Avenue (about 4700 West), said Unified Police detective Ken Hansen. The truck spun out and hit a pole at the northwest corner of the intersection, as well as a car waiting to turn right, Hansen added.

The man who was driving the sedan was in critical condition.

"Everyone else appears to be in good to fair condition," Hansen said.

The crash is under investigation. Hansen could not immediately say whether the truck or sedan had the right of way, but that police were talking to witnesses.

The westbound lanes of 5400 South are shut down until about 7:40 p.m., police say.
