An early Monday morning fire briefly closed down 900 East near 3100 South in the east Millcreek area.

Unified Fire Battalion Chief Brian Anderton said the 7:30 a.m. blaze was contained to an unattached, residential garage. No injuries were reported, but the fire did pour smoke into the southeast Salt Lake County community, resulting in numerous 911 calls.

The cause of the blaze, which was out by 8:30 a.m., was under investigation.

Damage estimates were not immediately available, but the flames caused extensive damage to the structure.
