A long time in the making, Salt Lake County broke ground Thursday for two buildings that will house the District Attorney's office. The $64 million construction project, expected to be completed in 2018, will result in construction of a main headquarters at 465 S. Main and a secondary building at 1800 W. 8000 South in West Jordan, much closer to the valley's fast-growing southern end. Artist renditions of both facilities were unveiled as part of the two-pronged groundbreaking, with county officials riding a TRAX train between the two sites. County officials maintain that owning the facilities instead of renting office space will save taxpayers $13 million over the first 30 years of the buildings' lives.
