An investigation is underway after a 46-year-old Sunset woman died while locked up at the Davis County jail.

Kara Noakes died last Thursday, according to Davis County Sgt. DeeAnn Servey. Noakes had been booked into the jail two days prior for allegedly driving with a revoked license.

Noakes had a warrant out for her arrest because she failed to pay ticket for driving with no insurance, according to court records.

The Sunset woman's children told the Standard-Examiner that jail personnel refused to give the woman her medication for high blood pressure, though Noakes had notified them that she needed it to live.

Servey would not address how the woman died, due to a pending investigation by the Weber County Sheriff's Office. It is standard procedure for another agency to conduct an in-custody death investigation, she said Monday.

"We do want to say that our hearts go out to the family," Servey said. "Nobody wants to experience anything like this or expects this to happen."

Noakes' criminal history was limited to several traffic cases, and a pending shoplifting charge in Orem.
