This is in regards to the letter "Appealing to the worst" (Sept. 24) regarding the Hillary Clinton poster taken from the front porch of Michele Margetts. She describes this as unpleasant and disturbing.

She found the mangled remnants scattered in the gutter one house away. It had been crumpled first and then ripped to pieces. It probably was some kids passing by or one of the deplorables supporting Donald Trump. It pains me to write that phrase.

She suggested it was low intelligence, mean-spirited and done with real hatred, and that Trump promotes this in his campaign. She suggests he appeals to the worst in human nature and actively promotes division among and loathing for fellow Americans, especially those "not like us."

Do we really have nothing else to do with our time and our lives? Isn't there enough horrible and inhumane treatment of human beings in America and around the world? Have we resorted to degrading everything and everyone when we think they are not like us or behaving like us? Let's stop all the name-calling and degrading of people. I know I am not the only one who is sick and tired of it.

Go out and get a volunteer job working with the homeless, disadvantaged children or a charity of your choice. Use your time to do some good, instead of using it to describe how negative you think other people are, especially ones who don't think like you. You will feel better.
