Utah Jazz center Jeff Withey's romance with a former Playboy model Kennedy Summers has apparently gone from twitterpated to Twitter jaded with the player and former Playmate of the Year breaking off their engagement over jealousy sparked by social media.
"We live in a world where its hard to escape social media," Zack Teperman, a representative for Summers, said in a statement Wednesday. "And while Kennedy is a huge social media fan, unfortunately some of the negative effects it brings to people while in relationships, which I'm sure some of us have also experienced in some form, caused several serious issues that caused her to end this engagement. At this time Kennedy is concentrating on her studies and professional life and will have no further comment on this personal matter."
Withey and Summers, the 2014 Playmate of the Year, have had troubles play out publicly in the past. Earlier this year, Summers apparently logged into Withey's Instagram and Twitter accounts and accused him of cheating after finding a receipt for multiple tickets to a comic book movie Withey had said he was attending alone. Withey later responded on Twitter claiming that he had only grabbed the receipt of the customers in front of him in line and had indeed watched the movie by himself.
The couple reconciled after that and in June announced they had become engaged.
After TMZ first reported the couple's split Wednesday, Withey took to Twitter once again and defended himself in a series of tweets.

News outlets keep saying that I "allegedly" cheated on my ex fiancée Kennedy Summers . Let me just make it very clear. I never cheated!!

I care and love her very much and wish the best for her. But I am very sick of being portrayed as this person I am not.

I'm sad that Kennedy decided to make a statement to tmz instead of keeping things private. I love and care about her and wish her the best.
