Bingham senior Whitney Rich was named the girls' Gatorade Utah Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Rich, who signed with BYU, won the Class 5A state title in 17 minutes, 39.3 seconds before taking sixth in the Nike Cross Nationals Southwest Regional.

"Whitney is the most dedicated athlete that I've ever coached," Bingham coach Alisha Paxton said in a release. "She's more physically and mentally prepared than other athletes of her caliber and she's willing to learn from both successes and failures."
