• Peter Capaldi will be leaving the role of The Doctor on the venerable BBC series "Doctor Who" at the end of the year. The new season starts April 15. [BBC News]

• Two deaths in rock music: John Wetton, a prog-rock veteran best known as the lead singer of the '80s supergroup Asia, has died of cancer at 67; and Geoff Nichols, longtime keyboardist for Black Sabbath, has died of lung cancer at 68. [Consequence of Sound, Rolling Stone]
