The Utah Grizzlies took a lead into the third period but couldn't hold it Wednesday night, falling to the host Alaska Aces 4-2 to end the Grizzlies' seven-game winning streak. Utah's last loss came Jan. 20.

"I thought they put forth a pretty good effort, they were playing desperate hockey," Grizzlies coach Tim Branham said in a release. "We've been playing some pretty good hockey as of late, we got exposed in a couple of areas and didn't score enough goals."

Erik Higby tied the game for the Grizzlies late in the first period before they took the lead on Micahel Pelech's goal with 4 minutes, 26 seconds left in the second period.

But the Aces scored two goals 142 seconds apart in the third period to reclaim the lead before adding an empty-netter to secure the win.

Ryan Faragher recorded a career-high 45 saves in the loss.

The teams square off again at 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
