A man and woman are dead after a house fire in Sunset on Friday afternoon.

The couple, identified as John and Nada Nicholas, were longtime residents of Sunset and were in their 90s. John Nicholas was a mayor of Sunset.

The house fire, near 150 West and 1900 North, was reported about 1:20 p.m. by a neighbor, said the city's interim fire chief, Anthony Bott, and seven fire agencies responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Friday night, Bott said, and likely would take several days to determine.
