A look at standout performers and key numbers from Monday's opening round of the Class 5A boys' basketball state tournament at Utah Valley University and the University of Utah.

Lleyton Parker

What a way to celebrate a birthday. The Bingham senior scored a game-high 21 points in a lopsided win over Northridge. He added two assists and a steal.

Lewis Johnson

After going 0 for 9 in the first half, Viewmont's top scorer exploded for 19 points in the final two periods to lead the Vikings into the quarterfinals. He finished 6 of 16 from the field, but did hit 5 of his 7 free-throw attempts.

Indiana Hanson

The Jordan sophomore drained 6 of his 9 shots, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range, to help push the Beetdiggers into the lead in the second half against Fremont.

Matt Van Komen

The 7-foot-3 Pleasant Grove sophomore made his presence felt at both ends of the floor. He scored 12 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots. He even added a steal.

Darrian Nebeker

The West Jordan forward was a monster on the interior, finishing with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, to help the Jaguars upset Sky View.

Truman Brown

The Layton junior guard makes four 3-pointers, scored the Lancers' first eight points of the second quarter and hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to end the third quarter. All this came one game after going scoreless in the Laners' regular-season finale against Hunter.

Stockton Shorts

It almost seems effortless for the Copper Hills senior guard. He quietly scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Grizzlies' win.

Chantry Ross

The Lone Peak junior guard finished with a team-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers, along with five rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal with only one turnover to spark the Knights to a lopsided victory over Syracuse.
