A rollover crash on Interstate 70 near the Colorado state line has left one woman dead.

She was identified as Vivian Cooper, 67, of San Antonio, Texas.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 9:10 a.m. Tuesday and involved a 1998 Dodge Caravan, registered in Washington state.

Cooper died at the scene. The passenger, Tamara Kindred, also of San Antonio, was extricated from the vehicle. Police reported that both women were wearing their seat belts and neither was ejected. Kindred was flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., in critical condition, UHP said.

Police reports said the car was eastbound when it was driven into the median. The driver overcorrected and skidded across both eastbound travel lanes. The car rolled more than once, entangling itself in a fence and landing on its roof, according to UHP. Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the crash, reports said.
