Highly prized recruit Junior Pomee out of Rancho Verde H.S. in Moreno Valley, Calif., liked the snow when he visited Utah, but he likes the idea of playing closer to home more. Pomee, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end, has committed to play for USC, choosing the Trojans over Utah and Arizona according to his father. "We are glad to finally get it over with," said his father, Kapelieli, Monday night. "Mainly he wanted to stay close to his family." Pomee's commitment could be twice the bad news since Pomee and his teammate, corner Ryan Henderson, have said they want to play at the college level together. Henderson committed to Utah early but said recently his decision was split "50-50" between Utah and USC. While Pomee's father said he believes the two will end up at the same school, Henderson said in a text Monday he remains undecided. Another Utah recruit, lineman Akeem Gonzales out of Mission Hills, Calif., has committed to Oregon State, according to the Los Angeles Times.
