So the result wasn't spectacular for RSL in its opening MLS Reserve League game of the season against FC Dallas. But at least some of the new guys got some work.Newly acquired forwards Conor Chinn and Donny Toia started up top for RSL in its 2-0 loss to the Hoops reserves today at Xango Field in Lehi, according to a team recap, with Toia — the team's first "homegrown" player signing — spending the middle part of the game at left back while going the full 90 minutes.Chinn played 80 minutes after signing with the team last week.Alas, Ruben Luna and Bryan Leyva scored second-half goals for FC Dallas, while former RSL goalkeeper Chris Seitz kept a clean sheet for the Hoops. Luna opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 52nd minute, after RSL's Rauwshan McKenzie tripped him in the box. Luna struck from distance on a popped-up RSL clearance in the 63rd minute, blasting a full volley from 25 yards past goalkeeper Kyle Reynish. With three players still away on international duty, coaches called in four players from the RSL-Arizona Academy Under-18 Team, including Provo's Mikey Orellana and Salt Lake City's Phanuel Kavita. Both the Utah natives came off the bench along with Nico Muniz, while midfielder Ricardo Velasco started and played 54 minutes. The next reserve game for RSL will take place against the Colorado Rapids at home on April 14, the day after the senior squads play at Rio Tinto Stadium.
