Congratulations to the BYU men's rugby team, which advanced to the College Premier Division championship game over the weekend with a 36-15 win over Arkansas State in Colorado. BYU will now play for the national championship against perennial power Cal on Saturday (May 21) at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy. The Bears advanced with a 62-14 win over Utah. This will be BYU's sixth-straight appearance in the championship game since 2006. The Cougars beat the Bears for the title in 2009, but other than that year Cal has come out on top. Last year, Cal beat BYU 19-7 on Stanford's campus. Go here for tickets to Saturday's big showdown, the first time the title game will be played in Utah. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com and broadcast on a tape-delay basis on Sunday by ESPNU.———————————— BYU's softball team also enters postseason play this week. The Cougars, MWC champions for the third-straight year, will play in the Seattle Regional, beginning Thursday. The Cougars (38-16) will play Auburn (39-17) at Washington's field. After that game, BYU will face either Washington or Portland State. It will be the first-ever meeting between Auburn and BYU. In the regional format, four teams play in a double elimination format where the winners and losers of the first two games play each either and continue on until every team but one has lost twice.———————————————Looks like Ole Miss could be a bit shorthanded when the Rebels play host to BYU on Sept. 3 in the 2011 football season opener. According to this report, two Ole Miss football players — including one probable starter — have been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. The players were arrested by campus police and charged with public drunkenness. Linebacker Clarence Jackson was listed as a starter at weakside linebacker. Delvin Jones is a backup defensive end who played in two games last season.
