Salt Lake City on Friday opened a park in the Avenues with a new playground at Lindsey Gardens park after eight months of renovations.

The city's parks and public services departments hosted a ribbon-cutting event and Ensign Peak Elementary School students performed a musical number.

The city's overhaul of the playground included adding new swings, slides, a climber and other features.

"Lindsey Gardens is a landmark in our city, well-loved by generations of children and adults," Mayor Jackie Biskupski said in a written statement. "These improvements are great for keeping neighbors socially connected, while providing kids with a great new space to play."
