Salt Lake City police are looking for the driver of a car that struck and seriously injured Fox 13 anchor Kerri Cronk, and then drove away.

Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan said Thursday that Cronk, an avid bicyclist, was found, unconscious and bleeding in the street, by a passer-by moments after the 6 p.m. Aug. 5 accident near Hogle Zoo and 2600 E. Wasatch Drive. The man called 911 and Cronk was rushed to the hospital suffering from neck injuries, a concussion and multiple abrasions.

Cronk, who appeared in an interview on Fox 13 Wednesday night (see below), said she remembered little of the accident — except a white car pulling out of a parking lot in front of her as she was riding her bicycle. In a neck brace and a sling for her right arm, she is now recovering at home.

McGowan said the driver of the car left Cronk little time to react when he or she pulled out from the parking lot. "(Cronk) braked and swerved, trying to avoid the car, but struck the back and went down, seriously injured," he said.

McGowan said the incident occurred during rush hour and he is hopeful someone must have seen the accident and could help police locate the driver.
