Police have identified the motorcyclist who died in a Wednesday night head-on collision in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said Christopher A. Conway, 38, of Cottonwood Heights, died from injuries sustained in the 8:25 p.m. crash near 4300 East in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Hoyal said Conway was on a bullet bike following another vehicle out of the canyon and decided to pass in a no-passing zone. Conway pulled into the path of an oncoming Ford Expedition traveling up-canyon, struck the SUV and died from massive injuries.

Hoyal said the collision started a fire in the Expedition, but two men riding in the SUV were able to escape. They were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
