Huntsville • Weber County sheriff's deputies have arrested a Huntsville man in the stabbing death of his 69-year-old stepfather and beating of his mother.
Sheriff's Lt. Nathan Hutchinson said deputies were dispatched at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 7400 East block of 400 South on a domestic dispute complaint.
"When deputies arrived. They found [Roger] Haven deceased," Hutchinson said. "[He] appeared to have been assaulted and stabbed."
Deputies also found that Haven's wife, 72-year-old Gundi McClarin, had been attacked. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of severe, but non-life threatening facial injuries.
Deputies discovered the alleged killer, 43-year-old David Erekson in the backyard of the home, where he also lived. He resisted arrest, forcing deputies to shock him with a Taser in order to take him into custody. Deputies recovered a knife from the scene, but are not yet sure it is the one used to stab Haven. They have identified no witnesses.
While Hutchinson said it appeared Erekson had acted alone, the investigation was ongoing and no further details were immediately released.
Erekson was booked into the Weber County jail onn suspicion of felony murder, domestic violence assault with substantial injury, obstruction of justice and interfering with an arrest. He was being held on $34,180 bail.
