Plans for the weekend: Music and dance and more

• The annual Living Traditions Festival — highlighting the dance, music, crafts and food of the different nationalities that have created communities in Utah — runs this weekend at Library Square, 400 South and State Street, Salt Lake City. The event runs from 5 to 10 p.m. tonight, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, but bring money for food and craft items.

• Alt-rock band Daisyhead performs tonight at The Loading Dock, 445 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City. Opening: Fossil Youth, Sundressed, Sunsleeper, Slow No. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12, at Ticketfly.

• Nu-metal band Flaw performs tonight at Liquid Joe's, 1249 E. 3300 South, Salt Lake City. Opening: Righteous Vendetta, Perish Lane. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12, at Smith's Tix.



• The National Choreographic Festival, featuring Ballet West and other esteemed ballet companies, runs this weekend and next at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday, and the same times next weekend. Tickets available at ArtSaltLake.

• Rapper Andrew Boss performs tonight at The Royal, 4760 S. 900 East, Salt Lake City. Opening: Playing Ghosts. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, at Smith's Tix.

• Utah jam band Mokie performs tonight at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20, at Ticketfly.

• Veteran country singer-songwriter Marty Stuart performs with His Fabulous Superlatives, Saturday at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Opening: Sean McConnell. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $48, at Ticketfly.

• German symphonic-metal band Xandria performs Saturday at Metro Music Hall, 615 W. 100 South, Salt Lake City. Opening: Kobra and the Lotus, Once Human. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance, $22 on the day of the show, at Smith's Tix and Ticketfly.

• Country singer-songwriter Mo Pitney performs at The Royal, 4760 S. 900 East, Salt Lake City. Opening: The Wayne Hoskins Band. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 on the day of the show, at Smith's Tix.

• Alt-hip-hop duo The Chicharones performs Saturday at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City. Opening: The Outsiders, Malev Da Shinobi, Dumb Luck. The show is a benefit for the Honeypot Glass Blowing Competition and Art Festival. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 on the day of the show, at Ticketfly.

• Alt-punk band Tonight We Rise performs Sunday at The Loading Dock, 445 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City. Opening: The Coast Is Ours, Berlin Breaks, Citizen Soldier, The Thrill Collective. Show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10, at Ticketfly.
