What is a Most Valuable Player? Is a MVP someone who, in the same season, was traded twice, played on a three different teams and didn't qualify for the playoffs?United. Major League Soccer did itself a disservice with the selection of D.C. United attacker Dwayne De Rosario as its MVP. No doubts about De Rosario's offensive ability. His 16 goals and 12 assists made him the only MLS player to reach double digits in both for 2011. So, he deserved to win the Golden Boot. But MVP? Good grief.De Rosario began the season with Toronto and was dealt to New York and eventually D.C. What team was he supposedly most valuable for?Houston's Brad Davis finished second. He helped his team advance to or through the playoffs. So did the others getting votes, Brek Shea (Dallas), Landon Donovan (L.A.) and Mauro Rosales (Seattle).Anyone else would have been a better choice for most VALUABLE.martyr@sltrib.comTwitter:Rsltribune
