If nothing else, the timing of this week's episode of NCIS (7 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2) is sort of odd.

Robert Wagner returns as Tony's father. This time, he wakes up and discovers there's a dead body in the trunk of his car. And he's a murder suspect.

This comes on the heels of the news that the investigation into the 1981 drowning death of Wagner's then-wife, Natalie Wood, has been re-opened.

Despite all the speculation, the police have not named Wagner as a suspect. It's just, well, weird timing.

It's potentially good timing for CBS, which might get a ratings boost. But "NCIS" does so well it doesn't really need much help.
