Prosecutors have charged a Salt Lake City man with elder abuse after his mother was found dead in a chair where she may have been sitting for weeks.

The charge filed Friday against Bradley D. Myers, 51, is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors did not charge Myers with any sort of homicide.

On April 5, Salt Lake City police found 74-year-old Geneil Larsen dead in the home she shared with Myers. Larsen was sitting in a chair covered in urine and feces, court documents say, and the path to the home's one bathroom was obstructed by garbage.

"Myers said that he had not seen Ms. Larsen move from the chair for the past couple weeks," a police officer wrote in documents filed in 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City.

A medical examiner said Larsen had a pressure ulcer above her buttocks exposing muscle and bone. An arrest warrant with a $10,000 bail has been issued for Myers' arrest.

It's the second time this week Salt Lake County prosecutors have filed an elder-abuse charge. Alfonso Patrick Moya Jr., 49, was charged this week and accused of neglecting his father, Alphonso Patricio Moya Sr., before his death.
