It is snowing along the Wasatch Front today, but the weather is not much better in the Metroplex, where it is overcast and rainy with temperatures in the low 50s. Hopefully it will be better weather on Dec. 30 when BYU and Tulsa meet at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall and athletic director Tom Holmoe are in Fort Worth, Texas, today for the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl announcement party, which begins at 3 p.m. MST. The shindig is at the Bell Helicopter Customer Service Center in the Alliance Airport terminal in Fort Worth; Part of the agenda calls for Mendenhall and others to take a helicopter ride. ————————— Oregon senior offensive lineman Mark Asper has some negative things to say about how BYU recruited him in this Q&A with Eugene Register-Guard. Given that he's a senior and a returned missionary, Asper would have been recruited by former BYU coach Gary Crowton and his staff.———————- Is ex-BYU quarterback Jake Heaps headed to Cal? Those are the rumblings coming out of Provo, and mentioned in this blog from new Cal football beat writer Jeff Faraudo in the Bay Area. Apparently, Heaps likes his chances of winning Cal's starting quarterback job in 2013 (he will have to sit out in 2012). Current Bears starting quarterback Zach Maynard is a junior, and will be gone when Heaps is eligible.
