Olympic gold medalist figure skater Sarah Hughes has confirmed she will perform in a Feb. 18 skating event capping a community celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of Salt Lake City's 2002 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Canadian pairs skaters Jamie Salé and David Pelletier, who were awarded a share of the gold medal after revelations of voting shenanigans by a French judge, also will return for the "Salt Lake 2002 Stars on Ice" show in EnergySolutions Arena.

Tickets for the 7 p.m. show cost $30 to $125.

"I am thrilled to return to Salt Lake City to celebrate this landmark anniversary," said a news release quote from Hughes, who was 16 when she pulled off her upset. "Winning the gold medal was pure joy. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. I hold so many wonderful memories of the Salt Lake Olympics."

Fraser Bullock, the former Salt Lake Organizing Committee executive overseeing the anniversary celebration, said Hughes, Salé and Pelletier will join Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen and the Stars on Ice touring company, which will be making its second stop on a 10-city tour.

The Stars on Ice ensemble includes a number of Olympic, world and national champions, including four-time world and Canadian national titlist Kurt Browning and Todd Eldredge, who was a six-time U.S. national champion and collected one world crown.

Olympic anniversary celebrations will begin Feb. 8, the date of the 2002 Opening Ceremony, with a relighting of the caldron at the south end of the University of Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Because of space and parking limitations, Bullock said, this will be a media-only event timed to mesh with television news programs.

The primary public event will take place Feb. 18 with a free "Anniversary Sport Festival" at The Gateway shopping center in downtown Salt Lake City. The event will feature interactive winter-sport demonstrations, commemorative exhibits about the 2002 Winter Olympics and opportunities to meet winter sports athletes.
