Monday might have been a holiday for some, but not for Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, who was in Texas closing the deal with a recruit. Whittingham and safeties coach Morgan Scalley paid a visit to corner Greg Allen, a 6-foot, 200-pound corner out of Alief Taylor H.S., in Houston, Texas and left with a commitment from Allen on Monday. Allen was planning to visit Kansas but cancelled the trip and said his commitment to the Utes was solid. "They've been checking on me ever since my sophomore year," Allen said. "My gut says, 'yes' to Utah. I loved my visit and everything felt right." Allen, who visited Utah over the weekend, fills one of the Utes' biggest voids as Utah has put a priority on recruiting defensive backs this year. He plans to join the Utes for summer workouts and said he can't wait to get on the field. "If wide receivers come at me, they'll see I came to play," he said.
