The two people behind indie music label Northplatte Records – Joshua James and McKay Stevens – will be the guest speakers at a Soundcheck Series workshop Jan. 24 in Salt Lake City.
Their presentation, "Finding Your Voice and Songwriting with Passion" will be held at Metcom Studios, 352 S. 500 East, in downtown Salt Lake City beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.soundcheckseries.com or at the door. The duo, based in Provo, created Northplatte Records in 2006 when both decided that it would be more rewarding to promote their talents independently, rather than cede control to a major record label. James' career was starting to take off and they successfully attracted several like RuRu, Sayde Price, Parlor Hawk and Desert Noises to the label.
