A 70-year Logan man and his single engine plane are home safely after a hard landing Friday evening.

About 4:45 p.m., Cache County deputies were called to an emergency landing near Trenton. When they arrived they found John Kerr, the pilot, out of the plane with no injuries. Kerr told police he was about 1,000 feet in the air when he felt the plane's engine lose power. Police said the plane was losing power and made an emergency landing in an empty field.

The plane, a Kit Fox Classic 4, suffered no damage. It was pushed out of the field and into a trailer to be taken back to the local airport, Cache County Lt. Chad Jensen said.
