At the Beehive Tea Room, located at 12 West Broadway in Salt LakeCity, "attendance is up this year," said Lisa Brady, proprietor ofthe unique eatery.The cafe is equidistant from two Sundance screening venues - theRose Wagner Center for the Performing Arts and the Broadway Theatre- and since officially partnering up with the Sundance Film Festivala half-dozen years ago, has become a haven for film goers who want awarm cup of tea in between or before or after films.This year attendance has increased, Brady said, because of the newNowSaltLake.com stage, which each evening during the festival hashosted top-notch local artists with their own followings. (Tonight,on Saturday, Jan. 28, acclaimed local singer-songwriter Kate MacLeodwill perform at 7:30 p.m. inside the cafe.)The kitchen has been busy preparing favorties, Brady said, includingits signature house tea blend: "Bee Hive Cream & Honey," a black teawith secret ingredients that Brady won't divulge. Another favoritehas been English "pasties," which are turnovers filled with anynumber of different items, including curried vegetables. Brady saidan English director visited the Tea Room several nights ago andcomplimented the cafe with its authentic pasties. "If we havesomething, we might as well have something authentic," she said.Also new this year is wine service; until this year, the cafe hadonly 3.2 beer service. The location is popular for bridal showers,Brady said, and toasting with wine is much preferrred to "toastingwith PBR."— David Burger
