The Salt Lake Tribune has learned that Utah State assistant coach Chris Jones, the lead instate recruiter on the staff, is a finalist for the Idaho State job and could be offered as early as next week.

Jones is scheduled for an interview on Sunday. He has already previously interviewed.

Thing is, the Idaho State job is a dangerous one to take. It's hard to recruit there, and the last few coaches have all been fired.

But Jones has proven to be a great recruiter at Utah State and his alma mater Utah. He is largely responsible for USU's recruitment of Marcel Davis and Quincy Bair for the prized class of 2012.
