There's a new place to tempt your palate in Salt Lake City.

Pallet, a contemporary American-style bistro, opened Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the historic brick building at 237 S. 400 West, where Big City Pizza once resided. The menu includes casual classics including steaks, short ribs, scallops and meatballs. All items are priced under $30.

Executive chef is Zachary "Buzz" Willey.

The name pays homage to the history of the building, constructed in 1901. For many years it served as a loading dock for Salt Lake Valley's first creamery. The interior design includes exposed brick and reclaimed wood on the walls and tables. (See more photos on the website of City Home Collective a local real estate and design firm.)

Initially, Pallet will be open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. Lunch service begins Tuesday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
