Restaurants offer St. Patrick's Day specials on March 17

Several Utah restaurants are offering St. Patrick's Day specials on Saturday, March 17.

The Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant • 1235 Warm Springs Road, Midway; 435-654-1400 or toll free 888-650-1400. The restaurant will be serving several Irish-inspired entrees in addition to its regular winter menu. Items include traditional soda bread and mussels in Guinness cream, corned beef and cabbage, Guinness-braised veal short rib and bangers and champ. For dessert, Chef Eric May will offer Bailey's cheesecake. The Blue Boar also offers an extensive list of Irish whiskeys and beers.

Faustina • 454 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City; 801-746-4441. Deluxe Irish Floats — made with vanilla ice cream, a fresh pour of Guinness Stout and topped with crème de menthe and house made whipped cream — will be available all day. Cost is $8.

Johnny's on Second • 165 E. 200 South, Salt Lake City. A lamb roast and party starts at 10 a.m. Stop in for corned beef and cabbage, Guiness Irish Stew, Guiness Baileys Chocolate Cake and, of course, lamb cooked on a rotisserie outside of the bar. Irish music will be playing throughout the day and Puddle Mountain Ramblers will perform at 9:30 p.m.

Lamb's Grill • 169 S. Main St. Salt Lake City; 801-364-7166. Specials include either corned beef and cabbage, chicken pot pie and pub sausage and masher with fried onions and peppercorn butter sauce (all priced at $16.95). For dessert get an Irish coffee sundae for $4.95. Also Irish beers available for $6.50; and an Irish Martini for $9. Regular menu also available.

Pinon Market & Cafe • 2095 E. 1300 South; Salt Lake City; 801-582 4539. Get a special St. Patrick's Day meal to go, or just pick up a few sides. The full meal includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots horseradish sauce and grainy mustard sauce and one cabbage roll per person. Cost is $17.50 per person. Orders must be received by Wednesday, March 14 at 5 p.m. Pick up on March 17, between 5 and 7 p.m. A credit card number will be taken at time of order, but not charged until day of pickup. Individual items, sold by the pound, also will be available including corned beef with brown sugar-ginger glaze, boiled potatoes, cabbage, carrots, cabbage rolls, twice-baked potatoes colcannon, shamrock sugar cookies and mint-chocolate chip cookies. Prices range from $7.99/pound for sides to $10.99/pound for corned beef. Loaves of soda bread will be available for $5.25 a loaf.
