Two restaurants and a nostalgic toy/candy store — all with Utah County ties — are expected to open in Salt Lake City's Gateway Mall this summer.
It will be the second locations for La Jolla Groves restaurant, Malawi's Pizza and Blickenstaff's.
La Jolla Groves serves soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas and entrees such as lemon roasted chicken and beef tenderloin. Prices from $7 to $17.
Malawi's serves traditional and speciality pizzas on a thin, crispy crust. The menu also includes salads, pastas and dessert pizzas. Prices from $7.50 to $10.
Both restaurants have applied for liquor license from the Utah Division of Alcohol Beverage Control. They are owned by Kent Anderson, a graduate of the New England Culinary Institute who holds a Master's of Business Administration from Brigham Young University. Anderson was previously founder and executive chef of Provo's Chef's Table.
Jeremy Blickenstaff, opened his nostalgic toy and candy store in May 2010 in Provo. It offers old-time candies you can't find in the big box stores.
