Todd SniderSpotlight show • The lovably quirky Oregon-based singer-songwriter will release his second album of the year the same day he headlines The State Room. Snider, 45, is releasing a tribute album to his musical hero Jerry Jeff Walker on Tuesday, just a few months after he released "Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables." "He was, to me, a free spirit," said Snider of Walker. Snider explained that during a three-year period during his leaner days, he slept every night on a friend's couch and felt like a "freeloader." But once he heard a Walker song about sleeping on other people's couches, Snider rationalized his behavior as being that of a "free spirit," rather than a freeloader. On this tour, Snider said he plans to play songs from both new albums, but he apologized during the interview. "I hate going to concerts when the guy plays news songs," he admitted. "That's when everyone goes to the bathroom." He welcomed people yelling out requests at his shows in place of the new material, though. "If I'd had enough drinks, I can play anything," he said. Reed Foehl opens.
