Here's what's happening today in pop culture:

• "The Avengers" isn't even in U.S. theaters yet, but in the international box-office it's already setting records. [The Hollywood Reporter]

• A remake of the Sidney Poitier/Bill Cosby comedy "Uptown Saturday Night" is in the discussion stages, starring Denzel Washington and Will Smith, and directed by Adam McKay ("Talladega Nights"). [Deadline]

• Some filmmakers are unhappy about one of the sponsors of this year's Tribeca Film Festival: Brookfield Office Properties, the owners of Zuccotti Park - and the company that called the cops to break up the original Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. [The New York Times]
