The Smedley Manor restaurant in Bountiful closed recently. It was a short life for the barbecue restaurant that opened in the fall of 2011.

There are two reasons for its demise: The centuries-old house in which it was located went up for sale recently. Asking price is just shy of $1 million.

Also, the food at Smedley Manor didn't live up to its stately location on Bountiful's charming Main Street. (When The Tribune reviewed it in March our critic only gave it 1 1/2 stars.)

But the restaurant could return once a new owner is found.

"We are currently closed but hope to be re opening soon," owner Healther Kilikina Healy wrote in an eamil.

I hope so — Bountiful needs a few more good restaurants and I still have an unused Groupon to the place.
