Claudia Sisemore & Friends
An art exhibit honoring Claudia Sisemore, a former creative writing teacher at Hillside Junior High School, who went on to complete an MFA in painting and filmmaking at the University of Utah, and studying at Weber State College and the former Salt Lake Art Center. On display will be her color field paintings in oil and acrylic, as well as art works by her contemporaries and artists she has mentored or filmed. In addition to her own art work, Sisemore produced documentaries for the Utah State Office of Education and through her own production company, Canyon Video, recording the history of more than 20 Utah artists, and documenting the state's rich modern dance history.

'From the Ground Up'

Beauty and Belief: Crossing Bridges with the Arts of Islamic Culture

Butterfly
Seoungho Cho's video artwork blends East and West by overlaying the pulsing drum solo from Iron Butterfly's famous 1960s rock song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" with a Buddhist drumming ritual. The video focuses on the mesmerizing drummer, whose movements resemble those of a butterfly beating its wings in the air. Born and educated in Korea with graduate studies in New York, Cho explores the connections of 1960s rock-and-roll with Asian philosophy in this intense yet contemplative work.
