A local star will be helping Loyola Marymount when the Lions take on BYU in West Coast Conference basketball action this upcoming season. Former Davis High guard Chase Flint has signed to play basketball for LMU. Flint played for USU Eastern (formerly College of Eastern Utah) last season, and made the All-Region 18 First Team as well as the NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention Team. He was named USU-Eastern's Athlete of the Year. Flint suffered a major elbow injury the summer after his senior season at Davis while driving a 4-wheeler, and served an LDS Church mission to Argentina before enrolling at the junior college in Price.

Here's what Hoopscooponline wrote about Flint after he committed to LMU: "We also suspect that Loyola Marymount may have stolen one in 6-1 Chase Flint. ... He didn't get the same type of national attention that 5-11 Fabyon Harris from Southern Idaho got in termss of national postseason honors, because his team was ineligible for postseason play. However, several sources have confirmed that Flint is every bit as good as Harris and his statistics illustrate this point even futher, as he finished ranked first in steals with 2.7 spg, first in assist-to-turnover ration with 168-55 assists/turnovers, second in assists with 5.0 apg., second in rebounding with 7.8 rpg, fourth in 3-point shooting with 42.3 percent, fifth in field goal percentage with 48.7 percent, and seventh in scoring 13.8 ppg. in one of the toughest junior college conferences in the nation."
