An art installation will invite Salt Lake City residents to try their hand at the piano.
"Play Me, I'm Yours" - an installation by British artist Luke Jerram - will place 10 pianos at locations around downtown Salt Lake City, from June 15 to June 30.
The event, which is being presented by the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, has appeared previously in New York, Sydney and 20 other cities around the globe since Jerram began in 2008. This month, pianos also will be installed in London, Paris and Geneva - and in July, pianos will be placed in Salem, Ore., and Toronto, Ontario.
"Beyond solo playing, we encourage choirs, bands, other musical ensembles and even dancers to incorporate rehearsals or jam sessions at the piano sites," said Adam Price, UMOCA's executive director, in a statement.
The pianos will be decked out in original paintings by local artists. And anyone playing one of the pianos will be invited to post photos or videos on a related website.
Here are the 10 locations where pianos will be installed:
• Bennett Federal Building, 125 S. State St.
• Celtic Bank, 268 S. State St.
• Downtown Alliance, 175 E. 400 South
• Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main St.
• Jones Waldo, 170 S. Main
• Kilowatt Commons Park, 135 S. West Temple (across from the Salt Palace)
• Nordstrom, 55 S. West Temple (City Creek)
• Squatters Pub Brewery, 147 West Broadway
• UMOCA, 20 S. West Temple
• Utah Arts Council, 617 E. South Temple
