Flowing gowns of many colors graced the runway at Pierpont Place Friday, but the women sharing the fashions weren't just any models: All were refugees who have resettled in Utah.

Women of the World, a Utah charitable organization, held its second-annual Refugee Fashion Show in conjunction with Utah Refugee Month.

"These women are mothers who have struggled mightily to go to the end of the Earth to protect their families and children," according to a news release. "Even with these burdens, they still want to recognize their cultural heritage."

Friday night's event also included a silent auction, live music and dance troupe performances.
