Salt Lake City police said a man was in critical condition after being stabbed during an altercation at a downtown Burger King restaurant Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. at the restaurant, near 400 South and 200 East. The suspect, who was arrested by police soon thereafter in the area of the eatery, stabbed the victim repeatedly, including in the neck, and fled on foot, Salt Lake City police Detective Rick Wall said.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, was taken to a hospital and was immediately taken into surgery. He remained in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, Wall said.

Wall said the suspect, a 28-year-old man, was booked into Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of attempted homicide.
